Water that Satisfies Forever

There is no more hope and he’s ready to accept that the only solution is the grave.

Water that Satisfies Forever

In John 4:13-14, Jesus answered the question of the woman at the well, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

When we follow God’s Plan for Us, we are given the water that satisfies forever. We are given the power of the Holy Spirit along with instructions for the tasks that need to be accomplished, the ability to keep going even in difficulty, and the determination to keep boldly stepping ahead.

We are stepping ahead now in the book of Job about the pain that Job goes through not only physically, but emotionally and spiritually too. Reading in Job 17, he’s speaking out in the anguish of his spirit. He is going through suffering and misery because he had lost everything. His children, his livestock, and his property. Then, he is afflicted with painful sores from the soles of his feet to the crown of his head (Job 3:7).

Job senses that his life is near the end. There is no more hope and he’s ready to accept that the only solution is the grave. Job had not found relief among friends who gave advice that did not help but he does appeal to God and wants to do what is right before Him.

Today, we have the advantage of knowing about Jesus who offers a forever wonderful future if we hand over our despair to Him. Then our needs are provided for, our desires have resolve, and we have more faith that our dreams will come true.  For with the love of God through Christ, we are well grounded in the hope of eternal life and ultimate victory is assured.

This day with You Lord, we have set aside time and now pray about the challenges ahead. For the best way forward, we put You in charge Lord. You can help us see the big picture and Your desire for us will transpire. Our thirst is being satisfied with a spring of water welling up to eternal life. Amen.

Mark Shields, Thanks for reading! This blog started from a small Bible Study group several years ago with just a few followers and now has grown beyond what I would have imagined. I’ve found it to be a great tool in my journey through the Bible and you, my readers are holding me accountable to daily Bible reading and study.

We live in a busy world with busy schedules and being able to share some thoughts about this journey with others across this world through the Internet is truly a blessing.
