True Repentance

DAILY VERSE

For the kind of sorrow God wants us
to experience leads us away from sin
and results in salvation. There’s no
regret for that kind of sorrow. But
worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance,
results in spiritual death.
2 Corinthians 7:10

DEVOTION

For Christians, there are two forms of, “I’m sorry.” The first is the human form, which in God’s eyes is simply a feeling. The second form is that of repentance. This gets to the core of the human condition.

Feeling sorry is probably how Eve felt when Adam caught her eating the forbidden fruit. That’s what got us all into this mess!

Repentance is probably how Adam and Eve felt when God caught them and kicked them out of the Garden. It’s more like grieving. It’s a feeling you want to avoid. It’s a deep sorrow for betraying God that allows you to change your behavior.

We all struggle with repentance, I’m sure. Ask God to help you understand the difference.

Bradley Hilton has always been a believer; it was in 2000 that he reaffirmed his faith and went all-in for Jesus. He felt a nudge from God to start a men’s group in his church. Influenced by this group he began a regeneration process that changed his life for a more active service for God. He began a newsletter to encourage others. Its growth resulted in a blog, The Daily Dose – Daily inspiration from God’s Word. Bradley and his wife, Michelle, share life together in Texas with their four children and two grandsons.
