Recently I read a long post from someone trying to justify behavior that the New Testament calls sin as being acceptable to God for Christ followers. The author admitted that the Bible called it sin and yet still tried to explain it away. Beloved, I often cringe when I hear someone who claims to follow Christ say, “I think…” or “I don’t think…” and then states an opinion about sin. Let me be very clear. What I think or do not think about what is or isn’t sinful is irrelevant. What matters is what does the New Testament say?
If you’re a true Christ follower, then the Bible is the highest authority for you in faith, beliefs, ideas, and practices. I don’t live according to my thoughts and desires, no, I am “transformed by the renewal” of my mind. I make my body a “living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God” by being obedient to His word.
If a simple reading of the New Testament calls or clearly implies something as sin, then, as a Christ follower, I don’t push back, I work with the Holy Spirit for my mind to be transformed and I live in obedience with my body, mind, and heart. Any other way leads to Hell and those who teach it are taking others down the path of destruction, not salvation.
