The Sin of Self Sufficiency

Is pride a barrier between your Christian walk and Father God?

The Sin of Self Sufficiency

Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God. 2 Corinthians 3:5 NIV

Without me ye can do nothing.” John 15:5c (KJV)

As a boy I was taught to be proud of my family name, to be self-sufficient. To complete any work taking pride in the end product. As a young man becoming a Christian I still carried these traits of self-sufficiency in my life, foolishly thinking I could do anything for God. Soon I found that I could never succeed in anything by my own ability for God. Through time I learned that God uses weakness to complete His work in this world, just look at David the shepherd boy who slew Goliath.

The realization that all was done through the provision of God, and surrendering my insufficiency to Him was my breakthrough. It meant I had become 100% dependent on God. This has become a daily routine, in prayer surrendering to Him and relying on His provision for that day. I was assured in my weakness He would display His purpose.

Dear reader, are you living a completely surrendered life for God? Is pride a barrier between your Christian walk and Father God? As children of Heaven, we must rely on Him daily for provision and guidance, only then will we be truly sufficient.

Great inspiration; weakness, a creation of mankind, can only be overcome by the power of our Loving God, who gives us unlimited power over all our mortal failures. REcognize God within and we are eternally created by God.
