The power of faith or trust is incredible.

Faith sees because it trusts God's Word and knows Christ is more real than anything the world offers.

For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day. 2 Timothy 1:12

Every Bible student is challenged and encouraged by reading the Bible stories about the faith of Noah, Abraham, Moses, Joshua, David, Daniel, and the apostles. My friend Glenn Mathews has written a powerful book titled “Adventuring with Abraham – A Faith that Believes to See.” The title is biblically accurate: Faith sees. It really does. It does not guess, although there are times we may not see very far. But it does see…it is not a shot in the dark. In other words, there IS a basis for faith. Paul writes, “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

Is such faith limited to only Bible characters? No. Look around you today and you will easily identify people who are still in their Christian journey because of one reason: faith. They have met Christ, become convinced of His person, and commenced a lifelong journey with Him who is invisible yet lives vibrantly in their hearts. Ask them to explain it and they may stammer then say, “But it’s real. They know. They see.”

Let me share what was written about the great English preacher, Charles Haddon Spurgeon, shortly before his death.

“He believed. Everything was a reality. When he was in his study, when we went into the pulpit—everything was a reality. He stood as God’s representative to man and as man’s representative to God. The man who believes every word he says is a power. God works sometimes through narrow-minded men, sometimes through weak men, but always through men who believe.”

If you are an old saint, you might say, “Those words describe me, too.” If you are a young saint, you might say, “I want those words to describe me.” I assure you those words can indeed be said about you…IF you truly believe. The more time you spend with Him, the more you will become convinced that He is more real than any teacher can ever explain. God help you to see Him as He is!
