The Dry Spell

Where did this dry spell come from and how do I get out from under it?

Praise God and Hallelujah. We all experience what is known as the “Dry Spell Syndrome.” We can sit and stare all day long at the laptop and even try writing a few paragraphs. It’s no use, nothing will come. So out of shear frustration and boredom I try to resolve the issue on my own. And, as usual flags go up like a caution or warning.

I’m a big fan of research in the Hebrew and Greek texts. In Hebrew, a spiritual dry spell or drought is often defined by words related to the desert or parched land. It signifies a time when your soul feels distant from God, characterized by an “in-between” wilderness where you are thirsty for His Living Water but feel His presence is absent. Not that it matters, but the Hebrew words for these emotions are (Simma’on ) meaning thirst or thirsty ground and (Tsiyyah) translated as dryness or drought,

For me….. it translates to me having the “Old People Fat Finger Syndrome. Any thing I try to write looks like a second grader playing on the computer. If Abba hasn’t inspired me to write it ain’t going to get done!

Now the question arises so what’s next? Where did this dry spell come from and how do I get out from under it? I need to put aside my imaginary Mr. Macho ego and bring out a humble heart….. Okay guys, this is where you ask your friends and your pastor…. What do you do?

They are going to look at you like you have lost your mind. The answer is so simple so clear. It is what we all must do. We must seek God’s face each and every time in everything that we do. Don’t go and whisper a little prayer and think you have done your part. Seek God with your heart and mind. Seek alone time to worship Abba our Heavenly Father.

Matthew 4:1-11  After Jesus was baptized He went into the desert alone being tempted by the devil three times. Jesus fasted seeking God the Father to comfort and guide Him. In each case of temptation Jesus quoted God’s Holy Word rebuking Satan. Jesus often went to the desert alone to pray.

Back to the frustration of a dry spell. The only solution for any of us is to follow the example of Jesus and seek God’s holy face.

There are two things I know for certain…. I may not hear God speaking to me every time I pray…. However, I know beyond any doubt that God our Heavenly Father hears our every word. Yes, even if is just a whisper or a thought. Abba hears our prayers.

Secondly, I know for a fact that Abba our Heavenly Father also answers prayers.

Yahweh has and does answer the prayers of the faithful. Example after example can be given all around the world. God does answer even the smallest of prayers….

It is frustrating to want to do something and can’t. It is also very rewarding to seek God and spend alone time with Him. We are His children. I feel like an old goat at 78 years of age, and yes, I am still a child of God. Your spending time alone with Abba our Heavenly Father is like charging your batteries. We need this time alone and need to be filled with the Holy Spirit.

I love to write. I love the thought that someone might read something that I’ve written and choose to seek Jesus as their Lord and Savior. I pray now for you… I pray that the Holy Spirit fills your hearts and minds drawing you closer in your walk with Jesus Christ along this path of life.

Matthew 6:33 KJV “ But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you,”

I pray that this very short word might help someone

going through a dry spell.
