Don't envy the visible successes of others.

IN THE LAST FEW WEEKS, I HAVE BEEN

TAKING A SLOW STROLL THROUGH

THE BOOK OF PSALMS.

PSALM 73 REMINDED ME OF ANOTHER

ASPECT OF FAITH THAT CHRISTIANS

NEED TO REMAIN FOCUSED ON.

In this world and in this life, the Christian will see the prosperity of others and their success in this life with few, if any, problems or hardships to dull the sparkle of a life well lived by every earthly measure.

Everything they put their hand to in this life brings wealth, fame, and reward with no visible setbacks.

All upside with no visible downside.

People idolize their lot in life and think that when it’s all over, they will lay down to a peaceful slumber for eternity with the satisfaction of a life well lived.

Their well-lived lives have a life of their own in the minds of many men’s covetous nature.

They may have streets or cities or some other high value objects named after them and the story of their life will be told and retold numerous times bringing an ongoing glory for them that never fades in the minds of worldly men who desire to strive for and emulate the best this world has to offer; with no consideration of what comes next.

In Psalm 73, it is easy for the professing Christian to become envious of the success of others whose only aim is to build a successful life in the here and now, neglecting the important words of the scriptures that inform us about the eternity that awaits all men.

“Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭9‬:‭27‬-‭28‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.”
‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭12‬:‭13‬-‭14‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The world we see around us today is unraveling as we watch economies and world events playing out in light of what has been revealed to us by God in the bible. Many won’t take the time to read this, life’s most important book, to understand what God has told us about future events and how to be in right standing with our Creator and ready to meet him face-to-face at his appointed time.

Without reading the Bible, people will be unprepared for what is coming, the gravity of which will be much more harsh than anyone might imagine.

If we read the bible, we learn about the One True God we will one day stand before to give an account of everything we have done in the flesh.

Back to faith, regardless of what we observe in the world, Jesus will judge all men according to his standards.

Don’t envy the visible successes of others.
