“Standing on the Rock: What Charlie Faced and Why It Matters”

I DIDN’T REALIZE WHAT CHARLIE KIRK

WAS UP AGAINST.

The hostility his messages brought.

I’ve been mourning in recent days, trying to understand where all the hatred for Charlie and his words was coming from.

I’ve watched quite a few of his interactions with the university crowd and it has become clear. The attitudes of the students he faced were the same, regardless of geographic location. They’re repulsed by his message because they dislike his God:

“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.”
‭‭John‬ ‭15‬:‭18‬ ‭NIV‬‬

His political message was based on the wisdom he learned from time spent in the pages of the scriptures, learning the things God has revealed to all men, for our benefit.

And so he was standing on the Rock of Truth.

JESUS IS THE TRUTH.

A Truth, that once believed wholeheartedly, will change your life as it did his.

The message of hope and love sent to all people everywhere in every generation, the Father sent his Son and his Spirit to change men’s hearts.

The job of the Christian; remaining faithful to proclaiming the message. Our assignment.

The battle belongs to the Lord. Our battle is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces in the unseen realm; Satan and his fallen angels.

His Spirit equips us for work:

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Charlie did it well.

Students stepped forward to engage in hostile dialogue with Charlie, with many trying to disable his ability to defend his position by setting their own ground rules; that Charlie couldn’t use God, the Bible, or anything in the spiritual realm to support his stance. Naturally, he played along with the hope that he could change their thinking, to reverse their learned biases:

“To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some.
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭9‬:‭22‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Without God in view, nothing else matters.

And so we have a lost generation raised without God, where personal freedom means doing whatever you want without responsibility or accountability to your fellow man or God, your Creator.

And the student’s worldview became apparent as the discussions began; a self-centered focus, support for abortion, a disrespect for lives not their own, with most everything viewed through a monetary lens.

Total freedom. Do whatever you want. Moral restraints out the window. I’m not my brother’s keeper. I create my own destiny. No God is necessary, I am my own god.

But really, can we blame them?

That’s what they’ve been taught.

Parents, teachers, college professors, etc.

We’re failing the next generation by not telling them the Truth. We should be making them disciples of Jesus. Charlie did. He read the Bible and lived it.

1 Corinthians 9:22 To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some.

Greg’s passion for Bible study began when his wife, Janel, introduced him to a local men’s BSF group. The daily discipline of God’s Word drew him into closer fellowship with the Lord and inspired him to share Scripture-based reflections on LinkedIn. His mission is to encourage believers to study the Bible for themselves, examine their faith, and live with the assurance of eternal life in Christ. Greg and Janel live in Sterling Heights, Michigan, and enjoy time with their two married children, Emily and Jordan, and their grandson, Jack.

Believe it, just like charlie, God created us for a purpose ; so that we may reflect Him as we express His love, intelligence, goodness, grace, servant leadership, …………. You are the Gospel of Jesus Christ to others and God’s leadership instrument.

    Your Friend- His Servant,
