Being a father and a husband is the greatest blessing God has given to men. With that great blessing comes great responsibility. The responsibilities of providing, protecting, and spiritually leading the household are what God created men to do. This short list is enough to get the enemy’s attention. He would love nothing more than to cause disruption and deception within the family, because he knows how important a husband and father is. Did you know that if a child comes to faith in Christ first, there’s a 5% chance the rest of the family follows? If a mother comes to faith first, there’s a 22% chance. If the father comes to faith in Christ, there’s a 93% chance the rest of the family follows! Fathers and Husbands were specifically created by God for certain duties; duties ordained by God that need prayer to protect them from the evil one. Let’s take time today to pray for the husband and fathers in our community, keeping Ephesians 6 at the forefront of our minds.
Lord, we lift up all of the husbands and fathers in our lives to you. We pray that they will seek you first in all that they do. We pray that every day they would put on the full armor of God, knowing they will face battles not of flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Amen.
