Mary is a young teen-ager. She is engaged to be married. She is happy.
Suddenly a mysterious person shows up before her with a message that, if it is true, blows her life to bits.
She seems to meekly go along with the message, even to the point of investigating if the part of the message regarding her relative, Elizabeth, is true.
When she gets to Elizabeth’s house and verifies the message she had received, rather than being devastated…she erupted in a song of praise.
Perphaps you have heard the old adage “G.I.G.O”.
Garbage in, garbage out.
The opposite is also true. When we stuff our minds and imaginations with the Word of God..and we get squeezed…guess what comes out.
As a Youth Pastor for many years, I’m immediately drawn to the thought that Mary’s parents had done a great job discipling their daughter.
They had, unknowingly, prepared her for this moment. They had taught her, by word and deed, to ingest God’s Word, and to live by it.
Which brings me to the question. What about the “Mary’s” in your life? Have you, or are you preparing them for divine encounters?
Your “Mary” might be your child, your neice, your cousin, even your neighbor.
If God put them in your life, there is a reason. Do your job of making disciples so that they are prepared for divine encounters.
