Discipleship In Action – Part 5

Attitude of Humility, Forgiveness, & Trusting God

True disciples of Christ must stand by God’s Word to seek freedom from the bondage of sin.

How? It all starts with an attitude of humility, as Jesus said in Matthew 5:3, “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” In essence, we must be humble and submitted to God, just as Christ clearly demonstrated in submitting Himself to the Father’s will.

Next, we must forgive, just as Christ did and Paul told us in Ephesians 4:32, “And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.”

Romans 14:17-18 adds, “For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God.”

Then, Hebrews 13:5: “Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Finally, if we are to trust Christ for our lives, shouldn’t we ensure we aren’t deceived by false teachings that contradict God’s Word to please the flesh? The reason Jerimiah 17:5 says, “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart departs from the Lord.”

Have I freed myself from the bondage of sin?

What André Gourd started out as a daily message to his sons in 2019, has grown into daily messages to all who wish to receive them. While he didn’t have a clue he was to share these messages with the world, the Lord put on his heart in 2020 to do so. The purpose of his daily messages is to remind those of us who know Christ as Savior and Lord, that He is present in this world and in our lives. André desires to keep each one “Short and To The Point,” so you will take time to read them. They are NOT related to opinion. They simply “Point to Scripture.” He leaves us with a one sentence “Challenge thought” to help us live out our commitment to focus on Christ and live by His word. If you desire to read more of his scripture challenges you will find him at Christ At The Helm
