Content With Weaknesses
We often see the second sentence of this verse quoted. But I don’t know that I’ve ever seen a refrigerator magnet celebrating being content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. And so I have to ask myself, when these difficulties come, and for the sincere and consistent Christ follower they will, can I be content in Him? For His sake, will I endure with a smile, with encouragement for those suffering with me or for those watching to see if I really mean it when
I say I am becoming like Christ? And will I unwisely try to go it alone, or will I get strength from His provision? Beloved, God provides strength through His Word and through the Holy Spirit living inside us. But He also provides strength through the other Jesus followers He has placed in our lives. It is not better to value independence over dependence in the Kingdom of God.
We are to rely on and humbly support each other…and that includes humbling ourselves to accept love and kindness from our fellow workers in His family. When the disciples endured suffering, they relied on God and each other. Let that also be our way, for the sake of Christ, in being content with whatever we are blessed to experience in following Him.
