Choice! God created us with the ability to choose.
Put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness. Ephesians 4:24 ESV
Life is a matter of choices and every choice you make, makes you into who you are. The believer can choose to put on (think of it in terms of putting on clothes) the new man (the born again nature is patterned after God’s own nature in righteousness) or the old man (the Adamic nature that is ours by physical birth).
Pastor Jerry Pirkle told of his little boy Chris staging a temper tantrum at the kitchen table. The father said, “Chris, be filled with the Spirit.” Chris responded, “In a minute, dad, in a minute!” Who do I choose to be in this particular minute? Do I yield myself to my Master (Romans 6) and commit today’s minutes to Him or do I…? The choice is ours. “Choose you this day whom you will serve.”
