““I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.”

“Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.”
John 15:4 NIV

““I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”
John 15:5 NIV

“If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.”

All of the verses above were spoken by Jesus.
This is the reason EVERY “professing Christian” needs to be reading the Bible for themselves:
“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly.”
2 Timothy 2:15-16 NIV

The words of God are contained within the bible’s pages, every topic and every principle meant to influence the reader for application in their lives.
If we follow this instruction from Jesus and observe the actions of others, we have the ability to understand the correct course of action if we are being led by his Holy Spirit.
Jesus told his disciples that when he returned to his Father, he would ask him to send his Holy Spirit.
Jesus told them that his Spirit would:
Remind them of everything Jesus has said.
Guide them into all truth.
Tell them about things yet to come, future events.
And you don’t need anyone else to teach you:
“As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him.”
1 John 2:27 NIV

Remain in him.
Don’t depart from the faith.
Don’t ever stop learning from what God has revealed to us in the Bible.
All of this points to a progression in growth from being a child to maturity, becoming an adult in our faith.
Apply what we learn to our own life first, and then help others to see errors in their thinking, the goal is to be united in one body under one head; Jesus.
Identify the false teachers who are leading many astray.
If they present a false or incomplete gospel, engage with them…
Jesus would.
