911 …I PROMISED MYSELF I WOULD NEVER FORGET!!

We remember September 11, honor the fallen, and trust God to lead us from darkness into hope.

devootional sep 2026 strength for today

2 min read

Every year, as Sept. 11 approaches, I am reminded of the unfiltered evil in our world and yet the human capacity for kindness, selflessness and generosity.

Two months after that horrific morning in 2001, President George W. Bush stated: “Time is passing. Yet, for the United States of America, there will be no forgetting September the 11th. We will remember every rescuer who died in honor. We will remember every family that lives in grief. We will remember the fire and ash, the last phone calls, the funerals of the children.”

His words are just as relevant today as they were twenty years ago.

I have long admired Corrie ten Boom’s observation that, “When a train goes through a tunnel and it gets dark, you don’t throw away the ticket and jump off. You sit still and trust the engineer.”

If a Holocaust survivor whose sister died in a concentration camp could trust the Engineer, so can I.

The Lord is near the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of all of them. (Psalm 34:18-19).

PRAY FOR THE WORLDWIDE SECURITY AND PROTECTION OF OUR NATION ON 911.
