Confidence

Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Hebrews 4:16 (NIV)

The Hebrew Christians were tempted to throw in the towel. Persecution was hotting up. It would have been easier for them humanly speaking to give up on their faith in God.

Even the shaky Hebrew Christians could approach God’s throne of grace with confidence. Our ability to approach God’s throne isn’t based upon our performance, but upon His grace.

If we’re trusting in our performance, we’ll be lost for eternity. Not everyone who says to Jesus ‘Lord, Lord’ will be saved. Only those who trust and obey Him as Lord will be saved.

We are always in need. Whether we realise it or not, we need God’s mercy and grace 24/7. Every breath we breath is a gift of God, out of His merciful and gracious heart.

‘God, we approach Your throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. In Christ’s name we pray, amen’.

Correct, true confidence is not based on human willpower, but on an understanding of God. It is a calm, spiritual reliance on divine Principle, Truth, and Love -(God).
