(Today is National Day of Prayer)

With The National Day of Prayer Occurring Thursday May 7th, I Felt This Was Advantageous

Inspired by President Washington’s Prayer for America

President Washington once prayed that God would “dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to walk humbly.” His desire was simple and profoundly biblical: that a young nation would be shaped not by power or pride, but by the character of God Himself.

At the heart of Washington’s prayer is a truth that still speaks today — a nation is healthiest when its people are rooted in righteousness. Scripture echoes this: “Righteousness exalts a nation” (Proverbs 14:34). Washington wasn’t asking God to bless America because of its strength, but to form America into a people who reflect God’s heart.

For believers, this begins not in the halls of government but in the quiet places of the soul. When we choose justice over convenience, mercy over resentment, humility over self‑promotion, we become living answers to that centuries‑old prayer. And as Christ’s people, we remember that our deepest allegiance is not to earthly kingdoms but to the Kingdom that cannot be shaken.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, shape our hearts so that we may live as citizens of Your Kingdom even as we serve within our nation. Make us people of justice, mercy, and humility. Let Your light shine through Your Church, that our communities may be renewed by Your grace. Amen.
