I Want to Speak to the Parents of Babies and Young Children
This also applies to grandparents. Notice that the people “were bringing even infants” to Jesus. Beloved, children are never too young to learn about their Savior. They’re never too young to be brought to Him. Yes, they may not consciously understand, but laying the groundwork by preparing their hearts and minds for coming to Christ when they do understand is critical. Regularly read an accurate, age appropriate Bible to them.
Pray over them and teach them to pray. Tell them the stories not just from the Bible, but the stories of how Jesus saved you and changed you. Make conversations about the Lord part of your normal, everyday family life. Take them to a church with a children’s ministry where they’re not just being babysat, but are learning about the Lord with other children. One last thought. All of your efforts to teach them about the Lord and His love can be quickly destroyed if you are not truly living as a Christ follower.
The most important thing you can do for them is to be a godly person consistently, to be the same person at home as you are at church. Is it difficult at times? Certainly. Are you likely to be imperfect? Of course. And when that happens be quick to apologize and ask forgiveness, and to make it a humble teaching moment. Beloved, if you want your children to be in Heaven then do your part to be a sincere Christ follower and to ensure they learn not just about Him, but learn to know Him.
