Trust in the Lord

I created this devotional for my two Great Grandsons Ages 6 and 8. They both have their own bibles.

I think about what it really means to trust God in my everyday life. The Bible says in Proverbs 3:5, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart.” That reminds me not to only trust God a little, but with everything—my thoughts, my choices, and even my worries. When I feel afraid, I remember Psalm 56:3, “When I am afraid, I will trust in You,” and it helps me know I can always go to God no matter how I feel.

Sometimes things can feel hard, but Philippians 4:13 says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” That gives me confidence that I am never alone—God is helping me every step of the way.

I also think about how important it is to tell the truth. Proverbs 12:22 says, “The Lord detests lying lips, but He delights in people who are trustworthy.” I want to be someone who makes God happy by being honest. And Proverbs 12:19 reminds me that “Truthful words stand the test of time, but lies are soon exposed.” The truth always lasts, but lies never do.

When I’m tempted to hide something wrong, I remember Numbers 32:23, which tells me that my sin will find me out. That helps me understand that I can’t hide anything from God. But I’m also thankful for 1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us.” That means when I tell God the truth about my mistakes, He forgives me and makes my heart clean again.

Zacchaeus was a tax collector who was known for his dishonesty, but when he met Jesus, he repented and promised to repay everyone he had cheated. Luke 19:1-10.

So I want to trust God with all my heart, tell the truth in everything I do, and remember that God loves me, forgives me, and helps me grow every day.
