As I begin this writing this morning, I must tell you that victory has but one defining moment… That moment in time is determined by our choice. It is all defining, complete, and for eternity. We are the ones who make this call for all the world to see.
Satan has orchestrated a complete battle plan with multiple snares and pitfalls to bring destruction and chaos to our lives and those around us. This plan is often very subtle. We often pass it off as a nuisance, and irritation.
This part of the plan is to bring distraction. To take our attention away from the source of our victory. I see it like the itch from poison ivy….. You just cannot escape it.
If this plan fails, there is always another soon to follow and often combining it with the first irritation.
We must be aware that these plans are not just meant to draw us into the trap. These plans are meant to snare those we love, our friends, and coworkers. Satan doesn’t just want us to fall. His plan is to destroy all those we love and care about. These plans are interwoven with each other.
The title I started with “Beaten but not Defeated,” is not referring to the loss of a battle. Quite the contrary! “Beaten” How about we define this in terms that all will understand.
The battleground…. Life. Watching a family member with marital problems, the loss of a job, physical illness like heart disease, cancer, diabetes, a child taken from a parent, hate for others because their opinions differ from ours. The list is absolutely endless, and it is where our beating takes place.
By no means are we to take lightly this war raging around us. This war is very costly and the beatings are brutal. If we allow these attacks to take our focus off Jesus even for a moment, the battle changes and more snares are put before you to trip over and fall further away from Gods love,
Many who read this already know everything I am writing about. You have gone through this battle only to find yourself facing yet another.
Nothing I write should ever be found without good solid biblical references.
The book of Job teaches us that suffering may occur for reasons we do not understand unless or until God reveals them to us.
Job, a righteous man, God-fearing man, experienced severe trials and afflictions. Job lost all his property, his children died, and he suffered great physical agony. His friends accused him of transgression.
1 Peter 2:24 “He himself bore our sins in His body on the tree.”
Isaiah 53:5 “He was wounded for our transgressions; He was crushed for our
iniquities.”
The sins that should have crushed us under the weight of guilt were transferred to Christ our Lord and King. This is the glory of grace, and it could only come by suffering.
The title “Beaten but not Defeated,” and we are not defeated. The hardships, the pain of trials we may never fully escape here in this world. However, our focus must go beyond this world and to the promise of eternity with Jesus.
No matter what Satan throws at us… HE IS DEFEATED! Furthermore, he knows this, and his time is coming.
We as Christians must bind together as one in the body of Christ and under His blood. We must follow the command of Jesus to pray for each other. We must put on the whole armor of God to repel the attacks and beatings that try to steal us away from the love of God and His promises.
John 10:28 NIV “And I give them eternal life; and they shall never perish;
Neither shall anyone snatch them out of my hand.”
Yes, the beatings will come but we are not defeated. Victory is ours for all eternity in God’s promise of eternal life.
My prayer is that you have found some comfort in the words I’ve written.
Comfort, in knowing that you are not alone, and not to carry this weight alone.
I must tell you, these things I have shared, I know to be true. What Satan planed for me was taken from him. I am living breathing proof that Abba hears our prayers. The beating I lived through was meant to steal my life.
I would not be here today to write this if it were not for the many faithful wonderful prayer warriors who lifted me and my wife in their prayers. Victory is ours in Jesus Christ. God be with you and bless you.
Love in Christ Jesus
Papa Moose
Most people call William Moorhead, “Papa Moose”. He brags that he is married to an angel with her wings clipped. He and Marilyn have been married for Ten years. Writing is something he never thought that he’d be called to do. However, God pricked his heart five years ago and he can’t put his pen down. He never knows what the subject will be or when God will stir his heart to write. It is Papa’s hope and prayer that his short stories will touch the hearts and minds of those who read them.
