Who is Mo Hodge?

Mo Hodge spent more than four decades in full-time ministry in Indiana — as a Youth Pastor, Executive Director of Youth for Christ, and Senior Pastor of The Bridge Community Church, which he founded in 1999 and grew across four campuses before retiring in 2018.

He is the author of The One Tree: Faith, Legacy, and Courage for a Confused Generation, Not On My Watch: A Grandfather’s Call to Reclaim Faith, Family, and Freedom and American Founders Storybook: Ten Lives God Raised Up to Birth a Nation — companion books for believers who refuse to let their faith, family, and freedom slip away without a fight.

Mo and his wife Nancy have been married for more than 53 years.

Mo now serves as the Indiana Coordinator for My God Votes, helping churches lead worship services during Legislative Sessions at the Indiana Statehouse, and as the Indiana Coordinator for the Great American Prayer Revival (GAP)—a movement calling believers to unified, Scripture‑anchored prayer for the nation.

They have two children and seven grandchildren. He lives in Madison County, Indiana, where he continues to write, speak, and invest in the next generation.

What You Will Discover:

unnamed

What do you leave behind when you’re gone? Not your money. Not your titles. Not even your reputation. What you leave behind is what you put into the people you loved.

Mo Hodge has been a Youth Pastor, the Executive Director of one of the nation’s largest Youth for Christ chapters, and the founding pastor of The Bridge Community Church in Indiana — a church he planted from a phone call received fifteen feet up in a deer stand. But this book is not about any of that.

It is about a grandfather in Missouri who handed a nickel to a little boy. About a mother who was his first pastor. About a mentor named Ken Mishler who gave him grace, truth, and time. About a brain tumor and a God who wasn’t finished. About a beagle named Barney and what he taught a father about the relentless pursuit of God.

The One Tree is written for grandparents praying over their grandchildren, parents trying to raise children of faith in a faithless culture, pastors wondering if it still matters, and believers who simply refuse to give up.

This is not a theology book. It is a life book — filled with stories, hard lessons, and the kind of wisdom that only comes from five decades of walking the road. If your faith needs to be anchored to something that will hold, this book is for you.

Faith, legacy, and courage for a generation that needs all three.

What Readers Are Saying:

“Of all the things I gained from reading ‘The One Tree,’ the most valuable is a renewed desire to be a better father. In this compilation, Mo Hodge draws from a lifetime of ministry filled with significant successes to teach the importance of courageous leadership, team building, and communicating vision. He encourages his readers to promote Kingdom values in the spheres of influence and to make stands that matter for the next generation. However, his steady admonition to instill the Christian faith into our children and grandchildren moved me deeply. This book is written by a man with a pastor’s heart and I am grateful for the wisdom that is within it.”

— Nathan Leasure, Pastor

I bought this book for my mom – Harriet. She loved it! She says, “Mo bared his soul, and I appreciated his honesty in sharing the good and the not so good times in life…and the role his faith plays in it all. His love for God and family came thru loud and clear. He also gave lots of good advice…advice about raising kids, ways to spend time with Grandchildren, etc. Mo’s faith in God is obviously genuine. I found his stories refreshing to read.”

Every book I read leaves me with a sense of satisfaction, knowing I’ve received at least one blessing, or one challenge, or one application to carry forward in my walk with Christ. The One Tree offers all three in abundance. Whether you’re a father, grandfather, pastor, or layman, Mo invites us into his story with tender vulnerability—laying bare both triumphs and trials. Having been welcomed into his family on occasion, I was deeply moved by the love, compassion, and prayerful foundation woven into their home. Looking back, I realize that even I was prayed for. It’s no surprise, then, that Mo reminds us the “faith handed down to him was never meant to be reshaped, but cherished, protected, and passed on with love and hope.”

In each chapter, Mo invites us to walk beside him—celebrating his joys, learning from his struggles, and considering the legacy we will leave for our own families. He urges us to look inward with honesty: Where do we stand with Christ in our homes, our vocations, and our place in the body of Christ? His stories stir us to reflect deeply and respond faithfully, reminding us that though we are imperfect and prone to stumble, God’s grace remains steady—often revealed through His mercy and the kindness of others. My greatest takeaway comes from Part Six: Legacy. The life we leave behind matters. Through vivid stories—lessons, really—Mo shows the beauty and weight of raising children and living out the Christian life before them. When your legacy is finally handed down, will it be reshaped, or cherished and passed on with love and hope? If you’re a young father, take hold of The One Tree and let its blessings and lessons take root in your heart.
