As we enter into April Fool’s Day, we need to admit that we’re all a little foolish. Therefore, if we’re going to be foolish it’s important that we be foolish for what is right rather than what is wrong.
If we’re all foolish, and if we’re going to be foolish, then it probably best that we’re foolish for the right reasons and the right cause. This is what the Apostle Paul brings out about himself in his first letter to the Corinthian church.
“We are fools for Christ’s sake.” (1 Corinthians 4:10a)
Paul earlier tells us why it’s wise to be a fool for God. “For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom.” (1 Corinthians 1:25a)
Paul then goes on to say, “Not many of you were wise by human standards … But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise.” (1 Corinthians 1:26-27)
Earlier Paul asked, “Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?” (1 Corinthians 1:20)
And so, what is the foolishness of God that is wiser than anything that man can come up with?
The cross!
“For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” (1 Corinthians 1:18)
How is it wiser? It’s because through Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection He proves wrong all the doubters and critics, and all the atheists and agnostics. And because of Jesus’s resurrection it proves that He is Lord and is alive and well to save everyone who come to Him.
It’s absolutely foolish not to believe in the resurrection, because everything points to its reality.
The Bible talks a lot about being foolish, but the most foolish thing anyone could possibly do is not to believe in Jesus and in His resurrection, because it is the heart of the gospel message that bring salvation to everyone who believes (Romans 1:16).
Don’t miss this Sunday. It is Easter!

Yes, what is “really foolish” is the belief in the reality of matter, and the attempt to find happiness, peace, or health outside of God.

Absolutely.
“The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God.’” (Psalm 14:1a)
Have a great day, and thanks
In regards to the most foolish thing being not believing in the resurrection of Jesus, I am reminded of 1 corinthians 15:17-19, “And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins! Then also those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable.” Jesus’ sacrifice for us upon the cross was what paid the price for our sins for all he would come to receive Him as Lord and savior. However, without His resurrection, we would never have the hope that we also will live with Him in heaven once this life is over. Without the resurrection, Jesus‘s death would be in vain. But Jesus has conquered the grave, and as a result, so will we, and all who has put their faith in him as our Lord and Savior! Hallelujah!
Thank you, Debbie. This is very well stated and explained. It was appreciated. Take care and God bless.
