THE BIBLE STANDS ALONE.
THERE’S NO OTHER BOOK LIKE IT.
THE HUMAN AUTHORS GUIDED BY
GOD’S HOLY SPIRIT.
MANY FAILED ATTEMPTS HAVE BEEN
MADE TO DISPARAGE ITS AUTHENTICITY.
BUT READING BECAME THE PATHWAY
TO BELIEF IN THE TRUTH PRESENTED.
MANY EVENTS WERE PROPHESIED
HUNDREDS OF YEARS BEFORE BEING
FULFILLED; THE PROPHETS BEING LED
THROUGH DREAMS, VISIONS, AND
DIRECT REVELATION FROM GOD
HIMSELF. THOSE IN SUBSEQUENT
GENERATIONS, BEING WITNESSES OF
THESE EVENTS, WITH KNOWLEDGE OF
WHAT HAD BEEN WRITTEN,
FAITHFULLY DOCUMENTING THEIR
SIGNIFICANCE.
The bible has an impressive record of fulfilled prophecy.
Jesus himself regularly mentioning the many things that were written about him.
The human biblical authors documented these fulfilled prophecies as the life of Jesus unfolds, right in the storyline, event after event.
There are too many individual prophecies to mention, but I will touch on a few of them for your consideration:
“Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.”
Isaiah 7:14 NIV
(Immanuel meaning “God with us”)
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
Isaiah 9:6 NIV
(In the various names mentioned, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are represented; the Triune God, the fullness of God in bodily form)
“But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.”
Isaiah 53:5-6 NIV
(the substitutionary death of Jesus in our place was prophesied)
So I encourage everyone to read the Bible individually, with prayer and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
When the reader sees all the fulfilled prophecies that have been recorded in past history, it will become clear that future prophecies will also come to pass:
“As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.”
Matthew 24:37-39 NIV
““Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.”
Matthew 24:42 NIV
Jesus is returning soon to rescue his bride, the church, those who are his faithful and true followers.
Let’s read and be ready.
Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.
Isaiah 7:14 NIV
Greg’s passion for Bible study began when his wife, Janel, introduced him to a local men’s BSF group. The daily discipline of God’s Word drew him into closer fellowship with the Lord and inspired him to share Scripture-based reflections on LinkedIn. His mission is to encourage believers to study the Bible for themselves, examine their faith, and live with the assurance of eternal life in Christ. Greg and Janel live in Sterling Heights, Michigan, and enjoy time with their two married children, Emily and Jordan, and their grandson, Jack.
