A Heart That Waits

Scripture:

2 Peter 3:9 (KJV)
“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness;
but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

Reflection:

God’s delay is not neglect—it’s mercy.
While some scoff at the promise of Christ’s return, wondering why He hasn’t come yet, this verse gives the answer:
 He waits because He loves.
 He’s not slow—He’s longsuffering.
Every moment He holds back judgment is another moment for someone to turn, to repent, to be saved.
This isn’t passive patience—it’s active grace.
God’s heart is not for destruction, but for deliverance.
He doesn’t desire that any perish.
He desires that all come to repentance.
And that includes you.
No matter how far you’ve wandered, how long you’ve delayed, or how deep the brokenness—His patience is proof of His pursuit.

Prayer:

Father,
 Thank You for Your patience.
Thank You for waiting, for loving, for longing to see hearts turn to You.
Let me not take Your mercy for granted.
Help me live in repentance, walk in grace, and share Your heart with others.
You are not willing that any should perish—make me a vessel of that hope, today, tomorrow and forevermore. Amen.
