Routine or genuine concern?

By Dwight Moss

For some of us, ministry to our class members especially absentees, comes naturally; it’s who we are. For most of us, we have to work at it-hard. I don’t think it’s because we don’t care. I honestly believe we just don’t think of it or make some assumptions.

We see that they are absent and simply think, Sick kid, or Visiting family, or Vacation. Unfortunately, our mind doesn’t go to places like, They are having marital issues and are embarrassed, or Not enough money for gas in the car to come to church AND to go to work tomorrow, or Seriously having spiritual doubts.

The difficult thing is NOT acting on assumptions at all; it IS acting out of concern and compassion-from an attitude of You are missed when you are not here. It shouldn’t matter whether it’s the first time or the twenty-first time. People, all people, NEED your touch of ministry. Let’s meet needs whether it comes naturally or takes a lot of deliberate effort.
