This is the prophet Daniel, praying for all Israel. They are in the midst of the Babylonian exile, having been sent there because they refused to obey God’s word. Daniel admits the sin of himself and all the people, and recognizes that God is faithful to His word, even when being faithful means allowing people
He loves to experience punishment. Let me tell you why I’m sharing these verses. Jesus talked a lot about the reality of Hell. One example is Matthew 25:46, there are several others. Just as we are thankful and excited about the promises of the reality of Heaven, we must also be assured of the reality of Hell.
I know it’s fashionable in some Christian circles right now to believe that there is no real, eternal Hell for those who don’t follow Christ. Some believe that the love of God would preclude Him from “sending people to Hell”. However, the scripture is clear. And the situation isn’t God sending people to Hell, it is people choosing to remain separated from God in Christ, and Him honoring their free will choice.
You can count on the fact that God always keeps His word, even when Him doing so offends the sensibilities of some people. Beloved, the promise of Heaven can only be relied upon if God is faithful to His promises, so why would His words about Hell be any less reliable? No beloved, Heaven is real, Hell is real, and as true Christ followers we must be about the mission of helping others to see the truth and come to Christ for their eternal salvation!!
