The Apostle Paul brings about a most interesting comparison between Adam, the first man, and Jesus Christ, the second man; calling Jesus, God’s gift to the human race.
Adam’s sin brought about death to humanity, but Jesus’s death, is God’s gift to humanity bringing life and righteousness to all who believe. In other words, God was able to do much more ‘good’ through His Son, Jesus, than Adam was able to do ‘bad.’
“But the free gift is not like the offense. For if by the one man’s offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many.” (Romans 5:15 cf. Ephesians 2:4)
While Adam doomed the human race, God’s gift of His Son, Jesus, justifies the human race. God’s gift makes us right with God and forgives all our offenses.
“And the gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned. For the judgment which came from one offense resulted in condemnation, but the free gift which came from many offenses resulted in justification.” (Romans 5:16 cf. Acts 13:39)
And finally, Adam’s sin brought about death’s reign over humanity, but God’s gift of Jesus brings the reign of life to all those who believe. Believers will reign in life, not only while on this earth, but they also rule in eternal life.
“For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.” (Romans 5:17 cf. John 5:24)
And so, while Adam brought condemnation to the human race, God’s gift of His Son, Jesus Christ, brings justification and life to all who will believe.
