Matthew 18:3 “Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.”
Ever notice how children get angry but forgive quickly, they rarely hold grudges. They frequently need forgiveness themselves, because of their ignorance and immaturity.
I believe that is what the Lord is saying here. “Become like children, totally dependent upon Me for your every need.” Because of our ignorance and spiritual immaturity, we will mess up and need the forgiveness of others, and so too we should quickly forgive and forget others wrongs, as our Lord does ours.
Matthew 18:21-33 “Then Peter came and said to Him, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him? Up to seven times?”
Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.”
In the greatest sermon ever preach, the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus says in Matthew 5:7 “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.” Because we ourselves have received forgiveness, grace and mercy, how much more willingly should we extend them to others?
