WHAT IF I JUST BELIEVE?

These questions can all be answered through carefully reading and studying the bible. But be sure that you have the Holy Spirit living within you (Luke 11:11-13).

Let’s begin the discussion with some very basic concepts that most who have read the bible would agree on. God created man in his own image for eternal companionship, put the knowledge of right and wrong in his conscience, and gave him free will to make his own choices. Adam knew that to disobey God’s command was wrong, because God told him the consequences in advance; disobedience means death.

But Adam and Eve disobeyed; death and judgment for all men became reality.

Later, the law was given by God to Moses to more adequately educate men on the issue of sin; bringing to light the many ways that men can offend God. Men were now fully accountable for their behaviors.

The Father sent Jesus to teach us to repent of our sins and submit to obeying God’s laws. Jesus died in our place as a substitute for the sins we committed in ignorance.

Since the fall of Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden, God has worked to restore the damaged relationship; atoning for the sins of men with the blood of his One and Only Son.

And the Father sent his Holy Spirit to live inside true believers to help us attain a holy and righteous life to prepare us for being in his presence for eternity.

God will not “overlook” the sins of man and allow his bad behavior to continue throughout eternity in his presence. You must strive to become more like God as you live your life in the expectation of eternity.

You must “work,” with the help of the Holy Spirit to become worthy of spending eternity in God’s presence.

Before you can enter heaven, judgment awaits.

You must clean yourself up.

Confess your sins to the Lord, repent, and be baptized, then you will receive the Holy Spirit.

Jesus said to “go and sin no more,” and to “leave your life of sin.”

Jesus said “whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing.”
